Gio provides leadership, management guidance, and charitable planning expertise to Sterling's foundation and nonprofit clients. Drawing on extensive experience in project operations, portfolio management, and strategic planning, he helps charitable organizations achieve their missions through effective governance, operational excellence, and donor-focused service. His commitment to personalized client support has earned consistent recognition for outstanding client satisfaction.
Before joining Sterling, Gio was a leader in PricewaterhouseCoopers' (PwC) Public Sector Practice, where he directed complex projects involving program and portfolio management, financial management, change management, business process improvement, and audit readiness for government organizations. He helped lead PwC's largest public-sector engagement—valued at more than $300 million—and successfully guided large teams and senior leadership in delivering complex initiatives while ensuring audit readiness for a federal agency.
A combat veteran and retired U.S. Army officer, Gio served more than 20 years with multiple deployments, including Iraq, Afghanistan, and Haiti, as well as assignments along the former East-West German border. Throughout his military career, he led large organizations in demanding operation environments and was recognized for distinguished service with numerous military decorations, including two Bronze Stars, the Legion of Merit, and the Valorous Unit Award.
Outside of his professional work, Gio remains deeply committed to serving veterans and the broader community. He supports organizations including Habitat for Humanity, the Knights of Columbus, the National Children's Health System, Best Buddies International, the Wounded Warrior Project, and the Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors (TAPS). He has also served on the boards of the Hispanic Alumni of Notre Dame and the Notre Dame Club of Washington, D.C.
Gio combines military leadership with business strategy to help organizations translate vision into measurable results. He holds the Project Management Professional (PMP) certification and the Lean Six/Sigma Green Belt certification, an undergraduate degree from the University of Notre Dame, and a master's degree from The George Washington University. He is also a member of the Omicron Delta Kappa National Leadership Honor Society.
